IHC registrar returns Imran’s appeal with objections

Islamabad:
The Registrar’s Office of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday returned appeals against the conviction of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.
The registrar’s office had objected to the absence of a certificate with the appeal that the case was not pending in any other court. The office asked the PTI lawyers to file appeals again after removing the objections.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday recorded the statement of another prosecution witness in the May 9, 2023, General Headquarters (GHQ) gate attack case against Imran Khan and others. .
On May 9, the case was heard in Adiala Jail. ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah rejected the acquittal pleas of three accused, Raja Nasir, Naveed Umar Sati and Saad Siraj. The judge next heard CCTV footage of the incident on February 1.
Police Constable Khurram Ali Javed’s statement was recorded throughout the hearing. 13 witnesses have given statements in court so far. At the next hearing, the prosecution will produce USBs containing digital evidence and other materials related to the case.
Meanwhile, on the request of PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, to attend the hearing, the court sought a reply from the superintendent of Adiala jail as to whether a criminal can appear in court hearings under the jail manual. No.
The court sent a reference to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council regarding the submission of power of attorney despite PTI leader Mashal Yousafzai’s license being suspended. The judge also banned Yousafzai from entering the courtroom.
On Wednesday, Islamabad High Court Justice Inam Amin Minhas issued a written order to hear the acquittal plea of Imran and Bibi in the Tosha Khana 2 case.
