Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has rubbished speculations about “ongoing backdoor talks” between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the establishment. He confirmed that there would be no talks with the former ruling party.

Yesterday, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that PTI is not engaged in talks with any other organization. Speaking to a local TV news channel on Tuesday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader slammed the PTI for skipping the fourth round of formal talks.

The PTI boycotted the fourth session on Tuesday, citing the government’s failure to set up a judicial commission to probe the May 9, 2023, riots and the November 26, 2024, Islamabad protest crackdown.

The Muslim League’s (N) leader criticized the PTI’s political style over the past decade, alleging that the party was harming the country’s political scene. He argued that the PTI lost the chance to receive the government’s response by ending the negotiations.

Referring to the PTI’s demand for a judicial commission, he remarked, “Given the current situation, no judge would want to join such a commission.”

Responding to PTI’s warnings of street protests, Sanaullah stressed that any protests would be met with legal action. “In a democracy, problems are solved at the negotiating table, not on the streets,” he said.
